Dr. Candace Parrish is currently an Assistant Professor at North Carolina Central University in the Department of Mass Communication, focusing on Public Relations. Having a background in public relations, visual communication, and social media, she is interested in social communication via digital platforms concerning topic areas from health (promotion and prevention) to entertainment. Dr. Parrish has presented research regarding visual, public relations and social media related topics nationally and internationally.
Dr. Parrish has consulted a number of organizations and artist on use of research for consumer insights, as well as social media strategy and graphic design. Currently serves as the committee chair for the Inez Kaiser Graduate Students of Color Award for the Public Relations Division of the Association of Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and was the former social media coordinator for The Red Flag Campaign–a national sexual assault and domestic violence prevention organization.
As a vegan, Dr. Parrish enjoys speaking about health and its relationship to social activism. She also created @YellowPlateVegan on Instagram to showcase tasty array of food Vegans enjoy.
